SSC counts age on 1 August. Change it if the new notification gives another date.

Enter a valid date of birth.

Rules are taken from the latest notification for each exam. Every new notice can change the cut-off date or limits, so confirm in the official notice before applying. Rules last checked on 10 October 2026.

How the age limit is counted

Every recruitment notice fixes a date the age is counted on, such as 1 August 2026 for SSC CGL or 1 January of the notification year for Kerala PSC. "18–27 years" is then printed as a birth-date window: for CGL 2026, born not earlier than 2 August 1999 and not later than 1 August 2008. You must have reached the lower age on that date and not yet reached the upper one. The calculator builds the same window, so its dates match the ones in the notice.

Category relaxation

OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates get 3 extra years on the upper limit and SC/ST candidates 5. EWS candidates get no age relaxation in any of these exams. Persons with benchmark disability get 10 years, which becomes 13 for OBC and 15 for SC/ST. Ex-servicemen rules differ: SSC and the railways deduct your military service from your age and then add 3 years, while UPSC, IBPS PO and SBI PO add 5 years for officers with five years of service.

Kerala PSC limits after the 2026 change

Government order GO(MS) No.8/2026/P&ARD of 27 February 2026 raised the upper age limit of every Kerala PSC post by four years. Posts that were 18–36 (LDC, Last Grade, Secretariat Assistant and most others) are now 18–40, so OBC candidates can apply up to 43 and SC/ST up to 45. Age is counted on 1 January of the year the notification is published, which for 2026 notices means born on or after 2 January 1986. Relaxation can never take the limit above 50.

NDA and CDS

Defence entries print a fixed birth-date window instead of an age band and allow no category relaxation. NDA & NA (II) 2026 takes unmarried candidates born between 1 January 2008 and 1 January 2011. CDS (II) 2026 takes IMA and Naval Academy candidates born between 1 July 2003 and 1 July 2008, Air Force Academy between 1 July 2003 and 1 July 2007, and OTA between 1 July 2002 and 1 July 2008. Each new notice moves the window by six months.

Which date of birth counts

Recruiters accept only the date of birth on your Class 10 (matriculation, SSLC) certificate. A different date on Aadhaar or a birth certificate is not used, and later requests to change it are refused. Enter the SSLC date here so the result matches what the commission will see.

Before you apply

Every entry links to the notification it was taken from. A new notice can change the cut-off date, the age band of a post, or a relaxation, so if the one you are applying to is newer, change the "Age counted on" date above and read its age section once. Agniveer is not included because published copies of its 2026–27 birth-date window disagree.
