Make a passport-size photo at home

Upload a photo taken against a plain wall in even light, choose the document, and drag the picture so your chin and the top of your head sit on the dashed guides. The tool crops to the exact size at 300 DPI, which is print quality, and can keep the file under a size limit for online forms. Download the single photo or a 4 × 6 inch sheet with several copies to print at any photo counter.

Taking a photo that will be accepted

Face the camera straight on with a neutral expression and mouth closed, eyes open and visible, no hat or tinted glasses. Use a plain white or light background with no shadows behind you; daylight from a window in front of you works best. Have someone else take it from about 1.5 metres away rather than a selfie, which distorts the face.

Sizes covered

2 × 2 inch (51 × 51 mm) for India and the US, 35 × 45 mm for the UK, EU/Schengen, Australia, Japan and most visas, 50 × 70 mm for Canada, 33 × 48 mm for China, and PAN card and exam form sizes. Pick Custom for anything else. Head-size guides follow each document's usual rules.
