How image compression works here

Your image is decoded and re-encoded at a lower quality setting, and optionally scaled down to a maximum width. For photos, JPG or WebP at 75–85% quality typically cuts the file to a fifth of its size with no visible change. PNG screenshots shrink most by converting to WebP or by reducing their dimensions. Set a target size, for example 200 KB for a form upload, and the tool finds the best quality that fits under it.

Nothing is uploaded

Compression runs on your device using the browser's own image engine. That means it works offline, has no file limit, and your photos never leave your computer. Large batches are processed one after another; keep the tab open until the downloads finish.

Which format should you pick?

Keep JPG for photos that need to open anywhere. Choose WebP for websites and messaging apps: it is 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality and keeps transparency. Use PNG only for graphics with sharp edges and text, where lossy compression shows.

Compress to a fixed size

Many portals demand images under 100 KB, 200 KB or 1 MB. Switch to target size, enter the limit, and each image is compressed to the highest quality that fits. If an image cannot reach the size at minimum quality, lower the maximum width as well.
