How to compress an image to 1 MB
Drop the image and it is compressed to the highest quality that fits under 1 MB, automatically. The page tries several quality levels and keeps the best one that meets the limit, so you do not have to guess. Batch drop is fine: each file gets its own best quality. Check the before/after view and download.
If it cannot reach 1 MB
Large photos straight from a phone are 3–5 MB at 4000 px wide. Lower the maximum width to 1600 or 1920 px, which is still full-screen size, and most will fit under 1 MB at a good quality.
Where this limit comes up
Many upload forms, messaging apps and CMSs limit images to 1 MB. Even a single 4K photo usually fits after compression at 85% quality.
Nothing is uploaded
Compression happens on your device in the browser. The photo is never sent to a server, so it is fast, private and has no file limit.
