How to compress an image to 20 KB
Drop the image and it is compressed to the highest quality that fits under 20 KB, automatically. The page tries several quality levels and keeps the best one that meets the limit, so you do not have to guess. Batch drop is fine: each file gets its own best quality. Check the before/after view and download.
If it cannot reach 20 KB
Very small limits usually need smaller dimensions too. Set a maximum width of 600–800 px (forms rarely display more) and the file will drop well under 20 KB while staying sharp enough. Switching to JPG helps: PNG cannot be made this small without losing quality.
Where this limit comes up
Government and exam forms, job portals, university applications and visa uploads often cap photos and documents at 20, 50 or 100 KB. The limit is on the file, so a large but efficiently compressed image passes.
Nothing is uploaded
Compression happens on your device in the browser. The photo is never sent to a server, so it is fast, private and has no file limit.
